Mukah, 4 July 2025 – After four precious and valuable days of learning, creativity, and cultural exchange among the participants, Camp 21: Synergising Literacies 2025, hosted by Politeknik Mukah and the Curriculum Division of the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, officially signed off.

Under the theme “Bridging Past and Future: Where Heritage, Literacy, and AI Intersect", the camp gathered 80 participants from different polytechnics and community colleges across Malaysia. Our Politeknik Melaka was represented by two students from Electrical Engineering Department, Muhammad Azrul Jelani and  Aqif Zikry bin Shafiee, accompanied by their lecturer, Shahrul Reza bin Mohd Zulkipli from Jabatan Pengajian Am Politeknik Melaka.

This event was concluded to be a successfull one because of the strong support from strategic partners, including the Borneo Cultures Museum, Sarawak Museum Department, Malaysia English Language Teaching Association (MELTA) and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ekonomi Bumiputera Sibu. In order to inspire students to preserve cultural identity while embracing future technologies, the programme included Design Thinking, AI, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The participants were mixed in different teams and involved in problem solving challenges. The pitching presentation was seen to be very challenging where they need to showcased AI-driven ideas to make museums and cultural heritage more engaging for young audiences.

Muhammad Azrul Jelani from Politeknik Melaka together with his team members managed to be the champion and won the Best Aldea Award in the final competition.

Securing the 1st Runner-up position and the Best Pitched Idea Award were:

  3. * Jude Anak Alex Christopher (Politeknik Kuching Sarawak)

  5. * Nurfirzanah Binti Nazri (Politeknik Metro Johor Bahru)
  6. * Amber Chrisley Segura Anak Christian Changan-Merka (Politeknik Mukah)

In accordance to Dr. Zamzam conclusion, “Always remember how important it is to communicate well, think creatively, and care deeply about your culture and the people around you.”, the programme ended well with encouragement for participants to carry forward their newfound knowledge and passion for culture and innovation.
